Five Years After Sandy Hook, a Mom Who Lost Her Son Fights Gun Violence

Five years ago, Nicole Hockley knew nothings about gun violence or how to prevent it. Then a troubled young man shot his way into Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., killing 20 first graders and six educators. Hockley’s son Dylan died in the massacre. She now devotes her time to trying to prevent other school shootings. We spoke with Hockley about her efforts to head-off school shootings, and to find common ground around the heated issue of gun violence.
