High-Quality Preschool Gives Military Families Peace of Mind

March 13, 2017 7:09

Military families enjoy some of the best—and most inexpensive—child care in the country. For children under the age of 5, on-base child development centers promote intellectual growth and provide emotional stability. Formerly a system in crisis, the military’s subsequent investment in child care has yielded positive results—97 percent of military child care centers are independently certified as high-quality, compared to less than 10 percent of civilian centers. What can others in the early education space learn from military preschools? Education Week correspondent Kavitha Cardoza reports from Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. This video originally aired on PBS NewsHour on March 7, 2017.
